Thoma Bravo Comp/Culture
I have seen this discussion for other MFs but not for Thoma besides shitposters going back and forth between TB and Vista. I watched a podcast with a former ASO who said the firm was partner tracked, and was wondering if that is still the case (and if so how it affects the culture). Also wondering about ASO/VP/Principal comp since I can’t find any reliable information on that front
$350k ASO 1
How does this compare to BX/KKR?
Not sure what we are paying the first-years that are coming in 1 1/2 years; but know that Vista pays above market to us. Not sure on BX/KKR; but Vista, Warburg, and Apollo pay significantly more than TB (would go to one of those 3 if looking for pure comp). IMO, TB is still better in the software space, but nowhere near highest paying.
What‘s vp comp and carry at tb?
If you're good, you'll get the senior associate promote and then the VP promote. After that it's a bit murky, but think that's everywhere these days. Culture is fine IMO; you'll work very long hours even relative to other PE firms, but people are good / not many assholes. TB is a great firm for developing how to think about tech businesses, and cyber businesses in particular. TB's basically runs a fortune 500 cyber security company if you look at the portco; and is the top investor in the space by far. If you have any interest in cyber, TB is the place to be. The whole ZIRP failure things are vastly overblown here; raised last fund at $34bn,
Awesome, thanks. Do you have insights into the comp and carry allocation at the Senior Assoc / VP level?
