Thoughts on Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement

I have a background in finance, having done internships in investment banking and private equity. However, after my time in PE I realized that I am more interested in strategy/operations. I came across an internship from Alvarez & Marsal within their Private Equity Performance Improvement division and it seemed quite interesting. What are your thoughts on the firm and division? How does it stack up against MBB?

This part of A&M is top tier. It’s a very smart and talented bunch of people, and it has been the fastest-growing part of the firm for the last decade. They work very hard but are really good at what they do and are recognized for it across the industry.

It’s a slightly different value prop than MBB. Most MBB PE projects are more high level from what I’ve seen. A&M gets really into the weeds.
