Thoughts on new SEC regulations?

Just saw an article describing a new SEC initiative to impose more reporting requirements on late-stage ventures by counting all LPs that invest as shareholders in their GP's portfolio companies. They want to decrease companies' time in the private market and avoid post-IPO value drops.

I can see this increasing exclusivity among LP bases, raising minimum investment amounts, and sending more GPs abroad for deals or even exchanges to list on.

What do you think?
