Tier 2 Management Consulting Firm (PE) > Private Equity in Toronto

I currently work at a Tier 2 PE consulting firm in the US specializing in Commercial Due Diligence and Due Diligence; I want to move to Toronto to do PE. FYI I am year 1 assoc in my currently.

Has anyone made this move or even something remotely similar? Any advice for someone trying to make the move?

I understand realism, but I prefer if I can get some realistic advice rather than just "PE only recruits from Canadian bulge bracket" I get that; my firm is reputable for PE exits and a lot go go to PE from my firm, but obviously in the US, so just trying to get advice with headhunters, etc. Even how to reach out to them.

Would really really appreciate some solid tactical advice I can implement.
