Any insights on recruitment? I really wanna work there
I agree, hear culture is top notch there. So good in fact that the juniors often can't handle it and leave to other places to experience the "real" MF experience
What do you mean?
Views on One Peak?
not hiring met someone today
very very good with great returns
Also absolute sweatshop with bad culture
How does TA stack up?
Very very good
Sweatshop
They’re all sweat shops.
What’s a “top fund” that’s not?
This is a competitive business, people scrap and claw and sweat and bleed to get ahead.
PSG's Europe team has been on an insane run lately. Have crazy coverage of their segment and a few nice winners... e.g. Hostaway (in the news today) is a 5.5x in 2 years
^ Seconded, they were a bidder in a process we ran for a comp in the media space, was very impressed.
I would wait to see them exit more of the ubdifferentiated shit they have rolled up.
Also, don’t think it is an exit? Just another round at higher valuation?
The initial investment that PSG did was almost all founder liquidity, they just made it look like a venture round for marketing. I'd expect this one is the same as it would be an astronomical amount of dilution for a historically profitable business.
PSG will continue to do well so long as MFs like KKR are willing to buy their unintegrated shitco roll-ups.
i heard it is like working in the military. true or no?
If you mean very structured remit (given sourcing / execution / portfolio teams) and long hours then yes.
Summit Partners has the best returns - but sourcing sweatshop
Does anyone know anything about Greyhound?
Any thoughts on Verdane? Looks like they’re expanding their London team
Atomico and Index are class (both more VC, though).
Do they recruit frequently in London? If so, typically only from top BBs?
Hire out of banking, other growth shops, and private equity. These firms are Europe-based/founded unlike other growth shops so will definitely hire in London, but they more so hire opportunistically so the gigs can be tough to come by.
