TPG Capital - consultant friendly?

Looking for some insight on TPG Capital - is it true that they are one of the MFs that consider consultant profiles / hire former-consultants? Are there any particular teams within TPG (e.g., for KKR am guessing Capstone is where consultants get hired for obvious reasons)? Would really appreciate any info on this. Thanks fam!

Yes, I will say they are friendly to consultants. They have not hired many but that may be because of their growth focus vs. consultants naturally leaning towards operational focused funds. Their interview style is a consulting case

I know bankers get consultant type cases. I believe they flip interview style for consultants to focus more on finance/LBOs. However, core of interviews should be doing a consultant case style investment case

I am currently an MBB analyst and was hired into TPG Capital's buyout fund in an investment role. My interview was the same as any other banker, but they gave me more leeway on my model I had to build but had a higher bar for my investment rationale.

Thanks for the insights. Could you share your prep process? Considering you went from consulting to TPG buyout - what resources did you use for accounting concepts/LBO practice etc.? That would be really helpful. Also, if you could share any surprises you were met with during the process or things that consultants should address during the interviews?
