Transition into PE from hypothetical Corp Dev position

Hello All,

I currently work in a back office reporting role and was hoping to make the transition to PE. I have been studying for the GMAT but my company just posted a Corp Dev role, should I apply? Is it possible to go from Reporting -> Corp Dev -> PE, or should I focus on going back to school?

Reporting -> Corp Dev -> PE is unlikely, but it's a hell of a lot more likely than Reporting -> PE. You'll likely need some IB and/or an MBA, but Corp Dev is definitely a step in the right direction
