Value creation in various industries

Hey everyone, so my firm specializes only in the consumer space and the post-closing value-add initiatives are quite industry-specific; as time went on, I started to become curious how, say, a PE can add value to a rubber manufacturer?

Would appreciate if you can share about what industry your firm normally looks at, and how would the firm go about adding value to the platform PortCo, mainly:
1) How to maximize the exit multiple - through size? product/channel/customer diversification?
2) How strategic is the decision made on add-on companies? Is it just adding EBITDA and getting the free roll-up multiple lift? Is it easy to create synergies across PortCos?
3) What's the % of value creation coming from organic EBITDA growth/synergies/multiple lift, etc?
4) As someone who doesn't know a lot about industry X, how do you identify strategies to lift value for a portco in industry X? What resources can you leverage?

Thanks for any insights, especially from anyone who works in the LMM space where there's a lot of inefficiency.
