Viking Global's PE Team

Anyone have any info on these guys? Doesn't seem to be as active / spray-and-pray as Tiger and to a certain extent, Coatue. But more active than LP? Curious whether anyone has additional info on strategy, culture, comp, recruiter, etc.

I’m eager to learn more about this team too!

Looking on the outside, it appears Viking recruits heavily for its private investments arm out of GSB and HBS from summer intern positions. The interns themselves come from IB/MBB → PE/GE backgrounds pre-MBA. I also heard they come to Wharton for campus recruiting, but none of their full-time hires have came from there as of late for some apparent reason.

It seems Viking also hires SMEs for biotech investments, so they’re open to either recruiting experienced professionals in biotech ER or MBB consultants with a PhD and/or MD degree as well.

Can anyone verify if what I’m saying about recruiting is true and shed light on any other details? I’m also curious to know if this would be a preferable role to be in over returning to MF PE after your MBA, as well as how it compares to late-stage VC

Honestly fairly impressed with this team. It's divided into life sci, great business great manager (or something like that - basically classic PE, H&F type approach of super quality assets), and then some sort of super late stage venture, but not venture-feeling, basically pre-IPO capital. You go in to the team I think either as a generalist or assigned to one of the latter two; life sci is a separate track obviously b/c of qualifications. Super sharp people, pretty impressive. They are super flat, so basically VP level is Associate and VP role, doing your own work.

Don't know anything about them - do they have a dedicated TMT private sleeve by chance?
