Vista and Thoma Bravo Chicago

I was talking to some older partners in the PE field about Vista and TB and they have the impression that they were both Chicago firms. However, on this forum I never see either of them referenced in Chicago PE discussions but rather only hear them in the context of SF and Austin PE (Miami too for TB). Do either of these firms have an active Chicago office or is it more just a few partners and no juniors there?

Based on the highest ranked content on WSO, Vista Equity Partners and Thoma Bravo are not typically referenced in the context of Chicago PE discussions. Instead, they are more commonly associated with locations like San Francisco, Austin, and Miami (for Thoma Bravo).

Here are some key points:

  • Vista Equity Partners: Focuses purely on enterprise software and dominates a significant portion of the B2B software buyout PE deals in the market. They also have a private debt fund and a public equities team.
  • Thoma Bravo: Along with Vista, they dominate a large percentage of the B2B software buyout PE deals.

While both firms are highly regarded in the PE field, there is no specific mention of them having a significant presence or active office in Chicago within the provided knowledge base. The focus for these firms seems to be more on other major cities like San Francisco, Austin, and Miami.
