Want to move to west coast after NC IBD--suggestions?

I'm currently a senior going to FT IBD in NYC for a two year program. My group is going to be very busy and I know I'll be cranked as an analyst--I probably won't have much time to interview on the west coast. Do any of you have experience with contacting recruiters that might be good to contact? Is there something I should be doing now (contacting firms, recruiters, etc.)?

I wanted the experience of New York but have a life goal of doing PE in California. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
