The big 3 is typically Alpinvest, Adams Street, and Harbourvest from a pay + prestige + fund performance standpoint. Other allocators like CALPERS and large endowments rival them in size, but as an employee those 3 private companies are the best

Unless it is out of necessity, I'd avoid secondaries/other allocator roles.
Can you provide reasons why?
Work life balance is good. But I view it as a bit of a black hole in terms of exit options (please correct me if I'm wrong).
