Career Resources
I think logistical challenges are most commonly cited (more paperwork to file, more K-1s to distribute, extra legwork from chasing mailing addresses as associates move around, etc.). Plus, associates are often at a firm more briefly than post-MBA/career track roles, so there's additional headache around determining what to do if an associate leaves (i.e., Should they be allowed to continue co-investing in deals after they depart? Is this mandatory? What if they can't afford to? What changes if co-invest was levered and/or pre-tax?, etc.).
