Working on same deal in PE and IB
Has anyone ever had a situation where they were working on a deal when they were an analyst at an investment bank and then moved to pe where they were working on the same deal?

My understanding is this is explicitly forbidden when you leave the bank through various confidentiality clauses. Obviously knowing everybody who Is in the process and what they are bidding would be tremendously unfair in favor of the PE firm

I have definitely seen an investment banking analyst sell a company to a private equity firm, then interview and eventually join that PE firm and cover the portfolio company.
If you’re talking about an actual live deal that is still actively receiving bids ... yikes, that’s a tough one. Can’t really help you there.
