You guys working today?
(ignore my title - am PE associate)
My firm doesn’t seem to be acknowledging Juneteenth at all and is treating today as a regular Monday (everyone in office, full IC meeting, zoom calls all day, etc)
Wanted to see what everyone else is up to / what is “market” within PE given this is the first time markets have been closed for Juneteenth
Yes I'm working.
CS is respecting this day unless you’re on a live deal
the fact my firm is making me work this day(UBS), but also pandering to SJW/diversity causes makes me LOL
Nah, at a NYC BB and today is one of the firm’s official holidays. You’re not supposed to really work unless you have mandatory live deal work, and it’s also a WFH day. Treated similar to like memorial/Labor Day.
cool, then why are all my MDs making me work? technically all deal work is "live", unless you at literally on nothing live which is sort of not good at a BB
We had Friday off, but are business-as-usual today.
At a MM IB. Full protected weekend Saturday through tonight. I observed Juneteenth from the beach today
Working. Have seen many other firms / service providers being responsive so assume most people are working despite the market being closed. Hopefully it becomes more accepted going forward... always down for more holidays.
At a UMM PE fund. Our firm is observing the holiday. I'm catching up on some light work but not getting bothered at all.
Jealous
Working. Went in the office then left to go to a bank to deposit some money and that’s when I learned Juneteenth was a thing. Didn’t even know it existed. Went back to the office and left early.
