Abstract Thinking: The effects of the NYSE leaving New York

What would happen to the New York/Greater NYC economy if the NYSE moved to a different city? Yes, the probability of this happening is extremely low, but thought it would be a good mental model exercise.

Probably nothing? 30 years ago it would have been a disaster. But we have this thing called the internet, which has pretty much rendered the physical location of the NYSE obsolete. As far as I know, people only really use it to put on a show when they IPO...

Most likely nothing. Moving the NY Fed would probably have a larger impact, and uprooting the CBD would have an effect, but as of right now I can't think of any other places that have a relatively well-built infrastructure (transportation and broadband) with a large amount of top-notch vacant office space for all those firms to move to (except for ghost cities in China).
