Acquisitions to Investment Sales
I'm 5 years out of school and currently work as a senior acquisition analyst for a small firm located in a secondary market. I enjoy working for the company and have learned a lot. However, I'm not happy with the compensation structure and the potential for my compensation to go up substantially in the foreseeable future.
I've received an offer from one of the large brokerage firms (Eastdil/CBRE/HFF/JLL) to join the investment sales team as an Associate. The base for salary is pretty much the same as what I'm making right now, but the bonus structure is much more attractive. My understanding is that associates usually bring-in well over from $100K per year and some even get close to $200K depending on deal flow and contribution on closed transactions.
Wondering what you guys think about transitioning from an acquisition analyst role to an investment sales role? Anyone personal experience doing something similar?
Would love to hear from people that transitioned from Brokerage to Acquisitions. Why did you do it? How is your compensation compare? What's the downside moving to brokerage? What are the exit opportunities going back to acquisitions?
