How is CPP? Seen some postings.
It depends what you want out of your career and your ambitions/circumstances. For some it's the dream place to be with the right balance of comp and WLB and interesting work for others it's miserable and a clear tier 2 or below firm.
Canadian pension funds: I remember answering a due diligence question email (actually they sent like 50 questions at a time) and I get an out of office reply: the analyst is having a baby and she will return next year. Next year!
I then sat back in my American chair, in my American office and thinking about my American job security, and thought they do maternity/paternity right.
The Canadian pension folks I’ve worked with were genuinely good people. I liked working with them. And some of them do some big global deals/funds with JV partners (PSP Investments, Ivanhoe Cambridge, etc).
Aren’t most pension investment seats in NYC? Would think Oxford is an exception.
Sorry if not the case, several years removed from the Canadian scene.
Canada overall does maternity/paternity better. I’ve seen mothers across banking, law, consulting etc get 1 year for mat leave. Fathers usually 3 weeks(concurrent with mother). I don’t know how people have kids in the US if you have to go right back to work with a new born
