Won the Blackstone account that focuses solely on LA rent control deals and have been SUPER active. Last I checked they had taken down about 30-35 deals, some small, some large, but this number is probably north of 40 given what I've seen on comps lately. Also have development arm that's busy throughout CA. Good group of guys and have one of the nicest offices I've seen in a very long time. Everyone I've encountered there seems to really like the shop and culture. No idea on comp but would imagine it's solid/market. Interesting dynamic is their CEO Sean Burton's political ties. Sean was an attorney in DC during the Clinton admin and former HUD secretary Henry Cisneros sits on the board.

I don’t recommend them. Pretty office and seemingly nice people, but very top heavy and slow to promote or give raises. It’s run by a few partners who have been there forever and have 0 incentive to promote people because it cuts into their share of the promote / profits.

They will go through hiring bursts and lay people off randomly to pivot or cut costs, so you may not have job stability. Shockingly high turnover for a development / repe shop. They are like a JRK.

Capital has dried up and they are having issues raising new money in the fund. It’s hard to learn when you can’t close a deal and go through the full lifecycle. They closed on 3 acquisitions in the last 5 years. Everything else is development.
