Bad time to follow up on CMBS interview?
I had a first round interview with a CMBS shop about two weeks ago for an analyst position. It went well and the VP said he would be in touch when it was time to come into the office to meet the team. I sent a thank you note the next day. Also followed up the next week to see what their timeline was looking like, and asked if the coronavirus had affected their hiring process. It looks like the CMBS market has really shit the bed since then. Should I wait for the guy to get back to me or email him again sometime this week?
I mean, they aren't going to be hiring in the near term, but it can't hurt to follow up just don't hold your breath for a job. Be empathetic, i.e. "I can't imagine what you guys are going through, but just wanted to touch base..." Those guys are getting kicked in the dick right now.
Thank you!
I would follow up so they don't forget about you, but don't expect to be hired now. Most people I know in CMBS aren't doing much of anything right now.
