Best headhunters in London?
Hi everyone,
First of all, happy holidays. Everything is in the title. I am currently an associate at a top 5/10, won't be precise for privacy matters) RE firm according to the PERE ranking and would like to make a move in a few months.
I am looking for the best headhunters you might know in London, as I would like to target firms such as Blackstone, Starwood, KKR, Lone Star, Angelo Gordon, Cerberus, Fortress, Oaktree, Apollo, Blackrock, or HIG. I am also very interested in the Morgan Stanley REPE branch, or Goldman Sachs AM, but it seems that banks are only recruiting from their career website. Any insight on these firms would also be appreciated!
Many thanks,
BH
From what I know, Angove Partners gets RE, PE and credit mandates from some of the firms above. Regarding GS MBD, I can confirm that they don't use HH, at least at the junior level.
Hi, thank you for your reply. Do you know what kind of profile these firms are targeting? You seem to know a bit about the matter. I have been working in direct acquisitions across Europe and several asset classes, but also in co-investment, secondaries and LP type (investing in small managers JV) deals. I believe my firm is well known and should catch recruiter eye's, but it seems to be more than competitive to get an entry spot at these firms...
Bump
interesting to hear about MS & GS. Put of curiosity what's the attraction compared to pure real estate shops?
Hi, apologies for the late reply! I would say the brandname, deals they have been able to work on, and the possibility to maybe switch between divisions or locations.
Angove Partners, Metis Search, Sousou Partners, Forge Partners, Hinton Rose. I'd recommend a Google search to find smaller RE focused recruiters who you can reach out first. They may not have roles you're interested in but will be good dry runs to get your story down and your target role clear. Better to blow 1-2 of these calls rather than blow calls with someone recruiting for your target fund.
Hi, apologies for the late reply, and thank you for providing these headhunters ! You’re right, I will probably target smaller HH or companies to train first. Since you are familiar with the London market, do you know what comps a senior associate/junior VP should be able to get at these firms?
I'm not that familiar with the London market, I know who the key headhunters are but don't have an accurate feel for comp. You'll be able to figure this out once you've spoken to a few headhunters and they provide a range of potential comp.
