Blackstone RE AM?

Hey all - I saw Blackstone was hiring for an associate position in New York on their asset management team.

Anyone have insights to the team? Culture? Type of work?

Any insights into interview process and case study also greatly appreciated.

Been a while, but we hired a few people from the BX AM team, all very sharp and a great group to get experience in if you get in. Generally considered a "front office" position there if you're worried about that.

Most of them were able to write their ticket more or less to do whatever they wanted afterward (a few started funds, or joined rich friends with equity).

BX culture is pretty well known and you can look it up (No jerks, work 24/7, etc.)

Did you get tapped for an interview? I haven't heard from them (not that I'm expecting to)

I haven’t yet, hbu?

It’s Blackstone, so that pretty much sums the culture. Will work late, will work a lot, but the team is actually pretty nice.

You get staffed to a few portfolio companies and that’s considered your asset management job and you’ll be in close contact with higher ups at the portco’s and do meaningful work (in my opinion).

You’re likely not going to get an interview. It’s Blackstone they are only interviewing the best people and a number of these postings are dummy postings and they will have a third party recruiter actually recruiting for the role. Once the recruiters find people and they have a few rounds with the firm, they will tell the serious candidates to apply online so they have their information in the system
