Blackstone RE Analyst

Might be a broad question but what are Blackstone analysts in the real estate group expected to know? Like are they expected to know how to model and explain an equity waterfall? Or do their presentation skills need to be superb ? I just want to get a sense of how knowledgeable they need to be.

Blackstone hires people who have worked on large, complex equity deals at well regarded firms. There’s a lot more to doing a big deal than just “Walking through an Equity Waterfall”. But more recently they’ve been hiring very bright people out of college and promoting from within.

I also hear they won’t hire any junior front office employees if they live in Jersey City, might just be gossip tho
