Career in Timberland / Forestland Fund

I came across an opportunity to work for Timberland Fund (1-5b USD) and would like some feedback and perspective on what a career in this field would look like. I would work in a position closer to the investment management rather than the deal/execution team.

I tried searching for relevant information on this topic, but didn't find much. Do you guys have an idea of expected compensation (salary and/or bonus), lifestyle and working hours, culture, and what a career in this would look like?

From what I've seem so far, you become very specialized after a while and become quite limited to move into other fields.

Any input would be immensely helpful!

Its not an exciting sector at all. But, if your personality is open to literally report the average circumference of your portfolio to your LP's, you'll fit right in.

If you're in the US due to regulation its incredibly boring, your comp is very predicted for 20+ years but its still relatively high at 150k+

The only way it can be exciting and to make large amounts of cash is to control a developing nations forestry and chop down forests quietly.

Not even close to accurate. Everything is replanted. Not only do trees store carbon, but converting said trees into forest products ensures that the carbon captured stays out of the atmosphere.
