CBRE Capital Markets Program

Does anyone have any idea on this program? The marketing material does not go into that much depth, however seems like a stepping stone to the investment sales side. Also wondering if this is more of a placement program, where you get placed into different areas in Capital Markets at the end of the 12-months.

Would appreciate any insight from those that have done it or have interviewed for it.

Thanks in advance.

I was offered this position but turned it down. They pair you with a senior IS broker to learn from for year 1 and offer you a draw of 40k which is partly covered by the senior broker and part by the company. Any commissions you earn aren’t vested until year 2 to make sure you stay on and are committed long term. It would be up to the senior broker to determine how things are split of any commission you earn initially as he/she is training you and covering part of your draw. You can negotiate the draw a little but it’s up to the broker and how much he wants to spend for “help”.

There is some training/webinars you have to complete as well along the way. Do a deep dive into the person they are pairing you with to make sure it’s a good fit. The guy I was going to be working under was retiring soon so to leave what I have and start over then be on my own in 2 years didn’t make sense. I wanted to switch from residential to commercial but I’m going to net 300k in commissions all in this year after all my expenses. I guess my life isn’t too bad

I didn’t get the impression that he was going to be around long enough for me to really establish a rapport with his his connections. I was introduced to this person from a family friend who thought he needed help professionally. If I was in any other position than the one I’m currently in, I probably would have jumped on the opportunity. I have a very good thing going so it just wasn’t right for me. Hard to go from making 300k to 40k when you’re not 22 living at home

This is not a structured program to move from an analyst on a broker team to a broker.

If you are referring to CBRE and want to start off on a broker team as an financial analyst you should be looking at positions that are labeled financial analyst. Read the fine print, and make sure in the job description that this position works with a brokerage team. It will read something along the lines of

" FCG is looking for a financial analyst to join the multifamily team in chicago"
