Commercial Real Estate Career Path

Hey everyone,

I am currently a sophomore in college. I am interested in the commercial real estate as a career. I was wondering what a good career path in commercial real estate is. From an analyst to a broker. Thanks.

There are three main ones. You work for a broker, you work for a bank, or you work for a developer/operator. All of these types of companies have dedicated recruitment pipelines. Wells Fargo has a credit analyst training program which recruits. CBRE/Cushman recruits as well (though on a team by team basis, rather than as an institution). And then various developers and operators will take kids out of undergrad as well.

since you are a sophomore, try and get a couple of internships where ever you can, best to just get some experience so you can make an informed decision. Also, join some real estate organizations (many have dirt cheap membership rates), like NAIOP, ULI, ICSC, etc. Go to the events, talk to people etc.

There really isn't one path nor is one necessarily better than others, so just explore and try stuff
