Commercial Real Estate Underwriter to acquisitions?

Hello,

First job out of college I've been underwriting for a few months for a MM bank, mainly underwriting REIT, institutional and senior housing deals. I also have internship experience in KeyBank's real estate capital group. Looking to get into acquisitions and was wondering if the underwriting skillset is transferable? Is it worth it to take RE financial modeling classes to increase my chances? Any tips or networking advice would be great! Don't know if this helps but finance degree from non-target with 3.5 GPA.
