Compensation Crossover-Brokerage vs Dev/REPE

The conversation about buy side vs sell side in RE has been covered pretty extensively, but I haven't really seen much as to senior level comp. With that said, it is known that brokerage provides the opportunity to make more early in one's career. On Average, at what point in one's career on the buy side might their compensation pass those in brokerage? What about at the highest level of brokerage? Do most on the buy side never pass top brokers?

Does this typically not happen unless you start your own Dev/REPE shop? Is it possible as a senior executive on the buy side?

Cheers all!
