Costar Interview

Hi,

I received an interview request from a recruiter at Costar via Hirevue; I wonder whether or not interviewing via Hireview a regular thing or just a quiet way of blowing people off? I'm wondering whether or not it's the latter because I looked at some interviewees on Glassdoor, and Hirevue was never mentioned. People seemed to receive a call from the interviewer. However, I'm not sure if the process changed due to the pandemic. Please let me know your thoughts.

Okay, I should've asked the OP which position he/she is referring to and where. But the majority of CoStar's bread and butter, "Research" Associate, is hitting phones talking to brokers, tenants, and shit. The "research" job has almost nothing to do with real estate research unless the job is in Market Analytics, where you do data analysis (I believe it's in Boston). If pure research is what you are going after, then go for an actual research gig at CBRE, Newmark, JLL, etc. If you want to be in brokerage, investments, development, then skip CoStar. It's not going to help you. It could only help you to understand your assigned market. Some folks on here escaped CoStar, and they will tell you if you can, don't go work at CoStar.

BTW, I respect the fuck out of what Andy Florance has done to grow the company. He puts in a ton of work. But CoStar is just a glamourous call center.

PS - Whoever threw MS is def a salty Richmond CoStar fella. Keep hitting the phone!
