Create relationships with brokers as first year REPE analyst?
I will be a first-year analyst this summer, and I was wondering if there are benefits in spending time creating relations with brokers (analysts at brokerage shops). I was thinking of finding two brokers in markets I would cover and spend 30 minutes trying to understand the market and eventually source deals.
Really no downside. Juniors at the brokerage shops will likely welcome it and if you plan to be in the game for a while it’s always beneficial to grow together with some peers.
No downside - good shops will encourage their analysts to be out at events getting their face out there. Don’t worry about sourcing deals, just get to know other junior employees in the industry.
What city are you in? I’ll be starting in brokerage this summer. I had the same idea actually lol.
