Culver City?
Hi, looking to move to Culver City area with couple of my roommates. Wanted to how safe the area is... apparently it was ranked as one of the most dangerous areas in CA but I heard totally opposite stories. Any insight would help, thanks.
Those articles are dumb. I saw one that ranked Santa Monica as more dangerous than Compton. Culver City is a nice area. LA, like any other big city, has higher rates of crime relative to the rest of the country. But the majority of the crimes are things like breaking into cars and shoplifting.
I live in LA close to Culver City, you're really going to be fine there. I don't really hear about it being bad but I'm sure there are some neighborhoods that are not going to be good but nothing like Compton. Where are you moving from?
Culver City is fine, not beverly hills but not watts either. I would compare it to Brooklyn
Maybe 15 years ago, but it has changed significantly. The further west in Culver City the better it is.
West and north, closer to the 10 and 405 intersection is solid. Lot of people I know moved there after college. Also close to Downtown Culver and The Platform are great areas (with Apple recently opening an office right there).
The “dangerous areas” in Culver City are probably further south once you get closer to Inglewood.
This ^^
You can probably figure out where the sketchy areas of Culver area. Most of LA has sketchy pockets in every neighborhood, South of the 10 on like Pico in Santa Monica is sketch, but also that area is not what you think of when you think of Santa Monica.
