Cushman Selloff

So CW is for sale. It's interesting to me when you see this kind of cash out if all other economic indicators that I've seen are that CRE is a growing field. I'd be interested to hear everyone's thoughts on the sale.

Those guys won't pay 10x EBITDA. I honestly don't see why the current owners care who the buyer is. If anything, the most competitive bidder will be another top brokerage firm. I wouldn't be surprised with CBRE and JLL going into a bidding war if they allowed other brokers to buy.

Not too familar with C&W, but if they are particularly good in a certain asset class, one of the other brokers would look to acquire them to beef up that group.

Nobody here knows where the market will go and nobody here knows their reasons for selling. Speaking in extremely broad terms, commercial real estate in the US has been improving from Q4 '09 to 2015. How many more years do you want? Do you expect them to keep waiting and waiting to perfectly time the peak, at which point they risk missing it? Seeing the several years of growth behind us already and seeing that some product types are arguably very hot (historically), is now really a bad time to sell? I know of a guy in my city with a dev/mgmt/ownership company (dozens and dozens of institutional-grade assets) who was planning to sell everything for about $500 million and retire, but he timed it wrong and lost a measurable fortune. He ended up selling in early 2013 instead and did not come close to getting what he wanted originally.
