Local developer, got ahead of their ski's at the wrong time, entitled/built a bunch of crappy co-living projects, but also built some very legit market rate projects. One of the better middle market developers in LA that is somewhat institutional but still entreprenurial. No idea on culture/etc. There are worse places to be I would imagine, but do not see a lot of tenured people there.

Poor man's Cityview.

Definitely a way “sexier” portfolio for CEI than CityView, and they didn’t just make a silly bet on the Blackstone vive portfolio like CityView did, they’ve gone more self storage dev and did an affordable financing deal. CEI was legit on its way to being one of the best/busiest multifamily developers on the west coast and in Dallas/Central Texas in 2021-2022.. interest rates blew the entire thing up since they were as well capitalized as any private firm there is… tough times…

Never thought I'd see my old firm on here... I think they're a great company. It's a very friendly office, laid back in a California way but still serious about the work. There is a lot of delegation and you're given the freedom to work independently, but senior leadership is very available and engaged. They definitely overextended right as interest rates and inflation were climbing which was unfortunate, but as to tenure, looking at their website, the core 20 or so people I knew back then are still there. If you mesh with the team you can have a good career there. OP, happy to discuss further if you want me to DM you.
