Going to be different firm to firm. Greystar uses their team to take a first pass at the business plan and underwriting and get everything in order before it goes in front of IC. They also standardize best practices, model templates, compile pricing data, etc. You are not going to get a lot of development experience, but will see a ton of deals, come to understand what data is important in the model, and learn what senior management zeros in on to give a deal the thumbs up or down.
