Development people: selecting architect for ground-up project?
How would you select architect or team of architects for a ground up development project? How would you run selection process? How many architects would you have initial meetings with?
Usually sends them the details, stats , storeys, massing, zoning requirements ..tell the the story/targeted clients..and make 3-4 firms bid ..this way you get a good pricing range and get a couple of ideas where you can pick and choose etc ..this strongly depends on the type of project..
Depending on the size/type of the project, you could give them all the details mentioned above and then make them pitch for it. It's not always the ones who create the most aesthetically pleasing building that you want to work with, you need to know that they are resourced, fit well with your team, will put in the hours and work to the mandate you want.
