Development to Acquisitions

I've seen a lot of posts of people inquiring about the transition from acquisitions to development but never vis versa. For some context I've been working for a small RE development shop for the past three years and primarily focus (75%) on the front end (site selection, building the pro-forma, market research, putting together IC packets, etc.) and the remainder assisting with the actual development process. I've been considering making the jump to acquisitions and am curious to hear peoples opinions on the difficulty to do this.

Do you mean you want to jump to more of a private equity style, high volume shop? You are doing acquisitions via site selection, underwriting, etc. It shouldn’t be hard to make a jump because you already do it. And because you’ve done development, you’ve got great experience not only on acquiring a site, but building it, which is just as, if not more, important.
