Development/Construction Management Resources

I recently started a new role as a development analyst primarily focused on the front end of the process (deal sourcing, initial proformas, IC presentations, etc.) but also have exposure to the development management process. I have zero background with construction and I am looking for a resource to provide some baseline/high level knowledge on construction management so I am not completely lost on these calls. Anyone have any sources they can point me to? Obviously most learning will come over time through asking questions but it would be nice to have a primer on the terminology. Thanks.

Honestly googling companies in the project area and cold calling them is the best way to get information in my opinion. All construction companies are hungry for projects and to get in early with developers - just make sure you look at their experience (usually can be found on their website) before you use the info they give you. Second and third data points also are always helpful.

If you are looking in Texas or the Midwest my company can help you. Feel free to reach out.

This is pretty bad advice tbh. I guarantee you'll just bug people for no reason and probably get routed through people in the front desk.

Just attend as many OAC/OA design meetings as you possibly can and look at a million drawings. Read through a million proposals and look through a billion schedules. You'll just pick it up naturally through this. If you've got time, go dig through old GC bids. They'll spell out every last thing that they want to do, all scope, and they'll have a schedule to review as well.
