Employer Drug Screening

Hi all,

I was fortunate enough to receive an internship offer from a REIT recently. I have been using pot daily since January, and despite living in a state where marijuana is legal, I need to produce a negative drug screen in the next couple of weeks (the last time I smoked was Monday). Can anyone speak to whether it's still common for employers to test for pot? Any context on industry standards, and/or advice to pass would be much appreciated!

EDIT: I actually have more time than initially thought - I'll be 15 days clean by the testing deadline. Also considering asking for an extension to accept, given extenuating personal circumstances. Has anyone successfully convinced an employer to grant additional time for acceptance?

Went thru a similar process. Had 6 days to pee clean so I went on keto pretty hard because I learned thc is stored in fat, so I figured to burn as much fat as I can. You’ll read online that your metabolism affects how quickly you can rid your system of thc, so YMMV.

If I were to do it again I think just drinking a gallon of water day of while taking B vitamins to turn your pee yellow should dilute it enough to pass, even if you’re a regular user. Definitely take the test seriously, but I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. There’s also a threshold that some employers follow where if there’s trace amounts of thc that show up they’ll excuse it.

Pass. I’d recommend getting a home test kit from cvs or something. I was passing those and it made me feel a lot better walking into the test center

This is right, if you have a few weeks you should be doing as much cardio as possible because you need to burn fat (which releases THC into bloodstream) and you need to be drinking lots of water (go to bathroom more = expel THC from bloodstream), however DONT exercise in the same manner for the 2 days-ish prior to the test because all the THC from the fat you burn will be in your bloodstream and will show up on the test. Vitamin B point is also right, goal on the day of the test is to dilute the shit out of your sample (by drinking lots of water) and using vitamin B to retain the color so its not obviously diluted. Additionally if the lab tech says your sample is diluted I think it buys you another day or two anyway but I'm not 100% on that

yes they will test for MJ and if you use regularly it'll be in your pee for a month, maybe a week less if you have low body fat.  If you don't want to quit for the appropriate amount of time, take goldenseal, niacin and vitamin B and drink a gallon of water a day, especially in the days leading up to the test.  also visit your local head shop or GNC and ask them if they recommend anything to drink right before the test.  GNC had something that worked.   The day of the test you'll want there to be as much other crap in your pee as possible to mask the thc.
