Feeling like crap for resigning soon -> any advice?

Hi guys - everything is in the title. I have been working for 2 years at a well-known developer (top 5 worldwide) and the experience has been great so far as we raised a JV, signed some deals, and established important relationships in a particular market. The team really likes me and assigned me to several projects recently.

However, I am not seeing myself ending up in development for years and I recently got the opportunity to join a top 10 PERE company (think Brookfield/Carlyle/PGIM) in their secondaries team. I would be involved in a more financial role and the fit with their team has been great so far.

I am feeling like crap to announce my departure as the team is small and was counting on me to handle some projects until their end. Any thoughts on this?

Do not take the counter! I don’t care if they triple your pay! It tells them you are not loyal even though your firm is only half ass loyal to you due to your shit pay and above average performance. Don’t feel guilty! Do what is best for you and leave on good terms! Maintain the relationship so you can go back 2-5 years out if you want!
