Forest City Ratner

Anyone have experience with them or know their reputation? Think a development job here would be cool?

I know they have a big presence in the boroughs and obviously have some cool projects under their belt (Barclays Center) but it seems like Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park is encountering some trouble and isn't too popular with the locals. Is MaryAnne Gilmartin as CEO an improvement over Ratner and are they headed in the right direction?

Bottom line is should these guys be mentioned in the same breath as the well known top developers?

Gracias in advance.

I've worked with them on several projects. Pretty well run shop from my experience. Their most well known projects tend to be their big mixed use developments - MetroTech, Stapleton and now Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park, but they also own some big retail and office projects. Short Pump Town Center and the NYC Times buildings being the ones that standout in my mind.

During the downturn several people I know thought they were a bit shaky and potentially ripe for a takeover/acquisition given the amount of land/projects they had under construction, but they made it work and have appeared come out of it stronger than ever.

a development job at forest city ratner would be way more than just cool. i'm sure that lots of people with stellar resumes would be interested in a development job at forest city.
