Generalist Vs Specialist - RE Acquisitions

Currently focused on equity transactions as a specialist, both asset specific and geography for a major investment manager / lifeco.

Would it make sense to transition as an associate to a generalist role? I’m agnostic to sector preference, and think a few years as a generalist will help open doors down the road. Thoughts?
