Getting in with a bank

Does anyone have insight on getting in with a banks real estate group ( not REIB)? I am mainly talking about in Credit Analyst and underwriting type roles. Is recruiting structured or is there off cycle as well for people who aren't recent grads? Do you need prior bank experience (have heard even if you were a Teller you can have the edge over others)
