Going from CRE Acquisitions to Single-Family Development - Worth It?

I'm currently doing acquisitions/AM with a small, private firm and was offered a position with a publicly traded single-family development company to manage an eastern portfolio. Do you think this would be a good move? I'm personally more interested in moving into REPE, so I'm trying to weigh this opportunity to see if it would be a good career choice.
