Hines Real Estate
Thoughts on Hines? Any updated info on comp/culture/hours?
Also, how is the interview like for the summer analyst position? Any specific thing I should focus on?

There have been countless posts regarding Hines on the site. A true treasure trove.
You’re welcome.
Comp culture and hours vastly depend on the regional office, although for the large part they tend to pay market and culture is good
As mentioned, very dependent on the regional team. Similar to other shops, a lot more focus on the Southeast and Southwest currently and some notable headlines as of late. Run very lean (so can be a grind from what I’ve heard) and everyone is incredibly sharp. Top-notch experience on the development and acquisition front. Those guys/gals are absolutely prime.
Be warned, your friends and family will all make ketchup jokes if you work here
Analyst at Hines:
I can only speak for myself and hopefully help analysts in the future. I went through a series of four interviews for the position. The initial interview focused on personal fit, followed by a CF and simple debt modeling exercise in the office (standard CF + debt/mezz). The third stage involved a case study, requiring completion within 3-4 hours. Analysis of macro/micro markes and obviously the asset itself. The final interview was a reclection and feedback on my CF modell. I received the job offer in the end. Wishing you the best!
appreciate your comment! curious but how much experience did you have prior to you joining and what does year one analyst comp look like?
Experience depends, my Masters was RE focused and I did previous internships in valuation and IM. Europe is probably different to the US, but entry is around £60-70k.
