been doing my fair share of networking recently to land an appraisal gig in CRE. Saw an opening for a position with one of the big IS sales firms (CBRE, C&W, JLL) and reached out to an MD of the office. The MD replied promptly and said that the firm was on a hiring freeze but to send her my resume.
Is it normal for a job posting to go up yesterday and the MD fo say they’re on a hiring freeze? This is an entry level gig.

I was once hired for a job at a big shop like this without a job listing. They had an internal requirement to post a job listing online for a certain amount of time and interview 3 people before they could hire me, even though I was already selected. Online job postings can be weird. You did the right thing to call the MD. Now just follow up every 3 months.
Ahh, okay I see now. I honestly thought I was being sort of lied too haha, but the MD actually got back to me saying my resume was "intriguing" so that's a +.
internal recruitment (someone switching roles to join a team), farming leads with no intention of hiring, just evil. lots of reason for them to do this. i’ve been recently dropped from a few positions mid interview process because the firm said it was freezing. tough market but keep persisting. some teams are hiring, i was just offered a position in similar role like you mentioned. CW has debt and equity position open in SF and has one analyst on their commercial IS team. they’ll probably be hiring. talk to everyone and make sure they know your name so when a position comes up you’re already in the door. Hope you find success.
