Hotel Acquisitions in the Caribbean and LatAM

Hi wonder if anyone had any experience in hotel acquisitions in the Caribbean/ LatAM? Mostly the coastal countries, how do acquisitions differ from the US? I know there's a ton of tourism over there, wondering if anyone had any stories? DD stories, trips.

I am also curious, I've only scratched the surface of this but from what i have seen, I think as far as process /structure of the acquisition goes, it's pretty similar. Of course there are different brokers, lenders, etc you need to build relationships with. On the underwriting side, taxes, fees, licenses etc. can vary. The biggest challenge i have heard about are approvals/permits for any improvements you might be contemplating. Mexico, for example, can take years to get a permit. Of course there are no shortage of "consultants" that can streamline this process, for a hefty fee.
