How big is the typical increase in base from Analyst to Associate?
Specifically for large institutional firms. Is it typically like 100k —> 150k or is that considered too much?

I've seen anywhere from a 15% increase to 40% increase. If you are getting 80k base and 15% bonus (92k which is a little low depending on the market and firm but it's just easy round numbers) then it would be reasonable to ask for about 100k base and 20% bonus which would be about 30% increase. My first promotion was ~25% increase back in the day when we weren't heading into a recession so the compensation might be lower.
I went up about $10K on base. But my bonus went from 40% to 50%. Lead to a total comp increase of 20-30%.
