How do you all stay up to date with what's going on in the industry?
I started in CRE about a year ago, and one thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of people seem to always know what’s going on - specific deals, which companies are active, what’s happening in certain markets, capital raising activity, etc.
I’m curious how you all stay on top of this.
What resources are you using regularly? Newsletters, websites, YouTube channels, industry reports, podcasts, Twitter/X, etc.? Are you mostly reading trade publications or is a lot of it just from being in the flow of conversations?
Would really appreciate any advice on how you’ve built your “information pipeline” over time.
People are the best resources. Takes years to build trust and relationships with the folks in your market but is one of the higher returning areas to focus time. Start with your peers now.
Podcasts and people on X are largely just industry pumpers and/or talking their books. Unfortunately CRE news is a giant infomercial on the whole. You are best off getting your hands on the raw market data for any question you might have and then draw your own conclusions.
