How much will an Argus Certification help me?

I am currently a Sophomore searching for an Internship this Summer. I plan on getting an Argus Certification in the upcoming weeks.

Do you think it's worth it and will it be a significant help in making me more of an attractive candidate to land a Summer internship?

Thank you for your input!

Where/what type of firm are you looking for an internship? How much it matters/helps depends on the firm type.

All that said, YES YOU SHOULD DO IT, there is little downside, you can actually learn legit real estate deal making terms and processes (as you have to know them to be able to enter them into Argus, and they actually explain in the training).

It is also is a huge credibility booster that shows you are really serious about a career in real estate (it's real value to you at this stage), and will help you get ahead of all the general finance applicants the good firms will get. Will the firm that hires you expect you to use it? Who knows, but it's add-on with little cost and no disadvantage, so might as well do it!

As said above, there is little downside in spending your time learning AE since you will learn the industry standard software (for most firms).

Just to give an example from a few years ago - was recommending a buddy of mine for an internship, MD asked a few questions about him, and then ended up saying to tell him to apply online. I mentioned he took an AE course and got the certification, he then said to email him his resume, and he ended up getting hired.

In the end - all companies still expect to train interns, however knowing you are already familiar with the software, they focus their time elsewhere and spend less time training you, which could be seen as very beneficial.

How much does the certification cost these days? Just curious. Mine was paid for by my company like 6 years ago but I let it expire after 2 years.
