How to Learn the NYC Luxury Condo Market?

Hi everyone,

I recently interviewed with a NYC luxury condo developer for a development analyst position, and I’m really excited about the work they’re doing. That said, I realize I don’t know much about this market or asset type. My background is primarily in multifamily financial modeling and underwriting, mostly focused on built-to-rent projects, whereas luxury condos are more built-to-sell.

I’d love to learn more about the luxury condo market in NYC, and I’m curious about how professionals approach this space. Specifically:

  • How do you conduct market research for luxury condos?
  • How do you perform property analysis and financial modeling?
  • Where do you source your data?
  • How does construction management work in this context?
  • Any general insights on the luxury condo market or the broader NYC residential market?

Any advice, resources, or tips would be hugely appreciated!
